I’m part of a group of parents who occasionally get together and discuss the latest news about our young children, mostly aged 2-7 years. I was a little in shock recently when someone brought up Halloween costume safety, it being the season, and realized that I hadn’t even considered the importance of making sure that the costume I bought for my 3-year-old was safe for him to wear. The vampire costume that I had considered getting had ropes for the cape that were a choking hazard. Additionally, there was so much black on the costume that even if I was with him, how could I know that my child would be visible to motorists while trick-or-treating on a rural road at night?
